April 2nd General Meeting at Sophia’s

Our guest speaker is Don Ravella the owner of The Garage Eatery in Islandia.

The Garage is a daytime eatery located in the Hauppauge Industrial area. We opened in 1997 and we specialize in servicing the LI business community. We have 50 seats for eat-in with a retro 1940’s theme, we deliver breakfast & lunch to the surrounding businesses, and we do  lots of corporate & residential catering.  Our store offers brick oven pizza, hot entrees from the steamtable, grilled items, wraps, sandwiches, salads, etc.

Over the years we’ve operated and staffed corporate cafeterias at MetLife, Underwriter’s Labs, & Adecco. We’ve operated satellite stores and used The Garage as a commissary kitchen to prepare the foods for each location.  We provide emergency meals for The American Red Cross and PSEG, and during Covid we provided thousands of meals through LI Cares and LI Harvest as part of the NYS Restaurant Revitalization Program.

In 2017 we began providing child care meal programs under the name Garage Dining Services, serving breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks to day care children ages 18 months to 5 years old.  We currently feed over 1400 kids per day in 18 child care facilities.  We’re focusing on continuing to grow this portion of the business.  We have a separate website for the childcare meals , which is www.garagediningservices.com.
